The Project: A Shared Vision and Purpose

From the beginning, our motivation for partnering with the Eleanor Whitmore Early Childhood Center was clear. As a family-owned business, Cruz Brothers Construction believes in fostering growth and providing support where it’s needed most. We are particularly proud of our collaboration with the EWCC, especially given the need for facilities that would support the development of children under age 4.

The project began with a personal connection—CEO Andy Cruz, a parent of a child enrolled at EWCC, approached the center with a generous offer to assist with repairs pro-bono. After discussing their needs, Cruz Brothers Construction committed to fulfilling the center’s highest priority: repairing the ceiling in the atrium.

Key Milestones: A Team Effort for a Time-Sensitive Project

Once the project was underway, the scale of work became evident. The ceiling, located in the atrium, had a tent-like structure about 30 feet high. There was also a pressing need to update the walls, which had been covered in uneven press board filled with years of staples.

The timeline was tight, as the center was scheduled to reopen with 100 children returning. But Cruz Brothers Construction rose to the challenge with a meticulous, professional approach. A team of skilled workers swiftly set up scaffolding and began their laborious task.

Community Impact: Creating Lasting Change

By the end of the project, Cruz Brothers Construction had not only repaired the ceiling but had also upgraded the entire space, bringing it into the modern era. This work included installing new LED lighting, enclosing the entry space to make it weather-proof, and creating a safer, more open environment for children and staff alike.

For Eleanor Whitmore Early Childhood Center, these renovations have made a significant difference, both in terms of aesthetics and functionality. The refreshed spaces now allow for an improved learning experience, providing a safer and brighter environment for children under age 4.
